NFC standings currently headed by New Orleans
December 29th, 2009 - 2:29 am ICT by Aishwarya Bhatt ( Leave a comment )New York, Dec 28 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The real picture of the NFC playoff is still hazy. A lot is at stake and things could turn around either ways. Right now New Orleans heads the NFC standings, followed by Minnesota, Philadelphia, Arizona, Green Bay and Dallas.
However the playoff picture is still far from clear as number 2 Minnesota could still clinch the top spot, or even tumble as far as number 4 too. Even the 5th seeded Green Day could rise further, depending on various options in the coming weeks.
First, let’s look at the current NFC standings:
1. New Orleans (13-2)
2. Minnesota (11-3)
3. Philadelphia (11-4)
4. Arizona (10-5)
5. Green Bay (10-5)
6. Dallas (10-5)
The Vikings would be the top No. 1 seed if either of three things happens. Firstly if they win on Monday Night at Chicago, or they win next Sunday at home against the New York Giants or if the current Number one New Orleans lose their match next Sunday at Carolina. At the same time, they could easily lose their Number 2 perch, if they don’t perform well. A 1-1 finish could make them lose the 2nd position perch and come down to the No. 3 seed, based on losing tiebreakers with Philadelphia, and a 0-2 finish could allow Arizona to leapfrog them as well.
