New York Knicks Drafts Andy Rautins In The Second Round

New York, June 25, (THAINDIAN NEWS) New York Knicks picked Syracuse guard Andy Rautins in the second round of NBA draft on Thursday. With the selection, Andy Rautins became the first Canadian to be selected in the NBA draft after 2006.
Undoubtedly, it was great day for Andy Rautins and he couldn’t hold back his joy and was extremely elated. After the draft results came out he told the media that it was almost like a homecoming for him and nothing in the world could have make him feel like this. He said that he had always admired the game play of New York Knicks when the team used to play at Madison Squares and today after his selection in the team he feels like he is on ‘top of the world’. Andy Rautins who happens to be the son of national coach and former NBA player Leo Rautins averaged at 12.1 points and with 4.89 assists in a total of 35 games while playing for Orangemen. After the last season, he had started to believe that he could definitely make it to NBA.
Andy Rautins said that his last phase of junior year has been rewarding for him when he had already transformed himself to be a game maker which made his selection in NBA possible. The 23 year old has been one of the promising members of the Canadian national team who ranked second in the three-point field goals. New York Knicks drafted him as the 38th pick. As per the Canadian pick in the NBA draft is concerned, it has been a long season of drought after Denham Brown was selected by Seattle Super Sonics way back in the year of 2006.
