The news regarding the US football team reaching the finals of the Confederation Cup is not the latest buzz about American soccer. Instead, its the United Football League that is catching up much fire. This a completely new league that will start from October this year. The league is a joint initiative by a Wall Street investor, William Hambrecht and Tim Armstrong, who is now the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of AOL.
There has been a lot of speculation regarding its stand in the soccer arena- whether it is a minor league compared to the National Football League or it is a strong competitor to the NFL is yet to be known.
The latest news regarding the United Football League is Michael Vick, who is speculated to make a debut this year. He is a professional American football Quarterback and is also a free agent. Known for his skills, this American athlete who had played for major teams like Virginia Tech in the college level and Atlanta Falcons in the national Football League.
A major set back in his career is his suspension for indefinite period from the NFL without pay after he was imprisoned for charges of being involved in the dog fighting ring. He has served imprisonment for 18 months and is right now under home imprisonment. He can only play in the UFL provided he is evicted of all legal charges.
As per the schedules, the participating teams would be Orlando, New York, Las Vegas, San Francisco. The matches which will commence on the month of October will take place on every Thursday night.
