New PCB COO Subhan Ahmad aims to bring international cricket back to Pakistan
December 10th, 2010 - 1:32 pm ICT by ANILahore, Dec 10 (ANI): The newly appointed chief operating officer of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Subhan Ahmad, has acknowledged that “multi-faceted issues” are plaguing Pakistan cricket, and said that bringing international cricket back to the country is one of his top targets.
“Pakistan cricket is currently facing multi-faceted issues. The return of international cricket to our country will be amongst one of my most important goals,” the Daily Times quoted Subhan, as saying.
The newly appointed officer, who holds a double MBA in marketing as well as in finance, said that it was an honour for him to have been appointed as the new chief operating officer at the PCB.
“I will accept my appointment as yet another challenge and will work with dedication to further the cause of Pakistan cricket,” Subhan told reporters.
He said that he wanted to work with the International Cricket Council (ICC) and its member countries to restore confidence in Pakistan.
“I am confident that we will be able to convince the world of the necessity of resuming international cricket to the levels of the past”, said Subhan, adding, “We will work closely with the ICC and our partners in other boards to help realise this critical goal.”
The position of PCB COO was lying vacant since November 1 after the retirement of Wasim Bari, who had his tenure cut short last month by a government ruling which bars officials of over 60 years age in office.
Subhan, who has been working with the PCB since 1994, has the experience of working with different departments of the board. (ANI)
