New Jersey Nets Center Brook Lopez Pulls Out From U.S. National Team

New York, Aug 7, (THAINDIAN NEWS) New Jersey Nets center Brook Lopez has withdrawn from the United States national team which is gearing up to participate in this month’s world championship which is scheduled to take place in Turkey. The 22-year-old player pulled out from the U.S. national team as he has been diagnosed with the common infection mononucleosis. According to reports, Brook Lopez called up Mike Krzyzewski, the coach of the team on Tuesday night and told him that he would not be possible for him to participate in the world championships as he is still recovering from the infection.
In statement that was released by the USA basketball on Wednesday confirmed the news that the New Jersey Nets center had made himself unavailable for the event which is all set to take place from August 28 to September 12. The statement further reads that the player is recuperating from mononucleosis and consequently would not be in the physical condition to participate in the world championship. While reacting to the decision of Brook Lopez to pull out from the world championship, Billy King who is the general manager of the New Jersey Nets revealed that although it would indeed be dismaying to not see the much acclaimed center competing in the event, the team supports his stand of withdrawing from the national team.
While the New Jersey Nets center has departed from the United States national team, it has been reported that his position would be taken by Washington Wizards center JaVale McGee. The 15-member squad which would participate in the world championship, would be start its training camp next week in New York.
