Never felt like a debutant, says Praveen
June 22nd, 2011 - 4:53 pm ICT by IANSKingston (Jamaica), June 22 (IANS) Indian medium-pacer Praveen Kumar has said he never felt like a debutant while playing in the first cricket Test against the West Indies here Tuesday.
Praveen, who wrecked the middle-order claiming three wickets for 38 runs, said he never felt nervous and bowled according to his plan.
“It felt good. The ball was swinging both ways. I didn’t feel like I was playing my first Test. There were no nerves. I just went according to the plan. I just wanted to concentrate on line and length and for me the ball should swing,” said Praveen, who was barred from bowling in the first innings for running on to the danger area despite being warned thrice.
“I was just focussing on what I am bowling and didn’t focus on running on the pitch and stuff. This is the first time it’s happened in my career. It’s good that I learned it in my first innings itself,” he said.
Praveen, however, said he was focussed on building the rhythm.
“Sometimes it comes in two overs; sometimes it takes four. Here, since it’s hot, you have to build that rhythm quickly,” he said.
