December 23rd, 2008 - 6:28 pm ICT by IANSKathmandu, Dec 23 (IANS) Bollywood’s blockbuster film “Chak de…” came alive Tuesday as Nepal’s under-19 women’s cricket team lifted the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) U-19 Women’s Championship trophy, smashing Malaysia at Chiang Mai in Thailand for a fifth win in a row.”We always knew we had the team to win; we’ve been playing a long time and have enough confidence in matches,” a jubilant Nepal team captain Nary Thapa said after her team lifted its first international title.
Put into bat first, Malaysia were all out for 45. A confident Nepal, batting on one of the hottest days in the host country, replied with 47 runs losing just three wickets in 11.5 overs.
Nepal’s U-19 team started playing international cricket only about three years ago. Last year, they lost to Bangladesh.
This year however they remained unbeaten throughout, vanquishing Bhutan, Bangladesh, Singapore and China.
