1241Boston, Apr 5, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Neil Diamond made a special appearance at the Red Sox versus Yankees game which had the Red Sox snatching a win while he performed the all time favorite “Sweet Caroline”. Decked up in a sporty jacket which flashed the slogan “Keep the Dodgers in Brooklyn,” his performance was seemingly the best act after Pedro Martinez’s opening pitch at the start of the Red Sox and the Yankees game. The Fenway Park witnessed the entire crowd lending their voice along with Neil Diamond as they joined him to sing along “Sweet Caroline”. Surprisingly, the 69-year-old singer and writer hasn’t lost his golden touch and that whenever he performs his own composition it never fails to strike the right chords.

“Sweet Caroline” happens to be Neil Diamond’s own creation that made it a big hit in the year of 1969 when it first came out as a single. However, up till now there has been three potent mix types for the song. “Sweet Caroline” has many a feather in its cap which includes recognition in the 1971 UK singles chart at no.8 position. The song was said to be an element of inspiration for John F. Kennedy’s daughter Caroline Kennedy. Neil Diamond even went ahead to perform the song at her 50th birthday in the year 2007.

Neil Diamond’s performance at the Fenway Park was reminiscent of the original mono 45 which has a lot of jazzy orchestra bundled with traces of glockenspiel which is arguably the best version till date. Fenway Park has been playing the song during every other game that is played at the Fenway Park where “Sweet Caroline” is played after the seventh inning and in the mid-way of eighth inning.
