Mar 16, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The bracket for the 2010 NCAA Women’s basketball was officially announced on Monday night with 64 teams all set to participate in the much anticipated event. The selection of the women’s team hardly came as a surprise with Connecticut, Tennessee, Stanford and Nebraska gaining the top seeds.
However, among all the 64 teams, it was Connecticut Huskies which grabbed most of the attention as the team bagged the No.1 overall seed in the women’s basketball tournament owing to its scintillating performance for quite some time now. Expectations would be running high from the Connecticut Huskies when it would be clashing against Southern in Norfolk, Virginia. Meanwhile, in order to achieve their seventh national championship, the Huskies might have to face Tennessee Lady Vols in the national semifinals which is scheduled to be held in San Antonio, if both the teams are successful to make it through their regions. If the Huskies and the Lady Vols indeed end up clashing against each other, then the game would be something to look out for as the Connecticut Huskies have not registered victory against the Tennessee team in its record 72 winning streak.
While reacting to the possibility that the two rival teams might meet for a showdown, Lady Vols coach Pat Summit has expressed that it would not be surprising if his team is lined with Connecticut if both the teams are successful in coming out. However, Connecticut Huskies coach Geno Auriemma is supposedly not really concentrating in that game as yet while adding that if his team indeed emerged to be victorious in that game, then it would surely bring a smile on the faces of his team members.
