NBA star Yao Ming joins Chinese Olympic squadJune 27th, 2008 - 3:29 pm ICT by IANS
Beijing, June 27 (Xinhua) National Basketball Association (NBA) team Houston Rockets’s Yao Ming says he has almost recovered from his foot surgery and was to join the Chinese national basketball team Friday. “I was last examined in the United States Monday and was told that I have made an 80 per cent recovery, though the doctors have advised me not to take full-strength training until late July. For now I’ll only be doing tactical training,” Yao told reporters here Thursday.
Yao said he is yet to take a decision on playing Olympic warm-up games in July.
China are grouped with the United States and world champions Spain along with African champions Angola in Group B at the Olympic Games. The other two berths of the group will be decided in an Olympic qualifying tournament in July.
