Wednesday, Sept. 3 NBA team unveil the changes officially after the name Oklahoma City Thunder have been heard for weeks,
Formerly the team have been generally known as the Seattle SuperSonics, yesterday team officials announced they will be known as Oklahoma City Thunder.
Stepping to a podium, Clay Bennet, Chairman of the new Oklahoma City NBA franchise started by say ;
“It’s hard to keep a secret,”
As earlier ABC affiliated reported on July that the team pick as a new nick name and then the NBA Web site listed NBA.com/thunder as a link to the Oklahoma City team’s page. Then the Orlando Magic’s site listed games against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Logo and color have also been secretly exposed before the official announcement.
“I thought it was great fun. Maybe I have a warped sense of things,” Bennett said. “I thought it was a lot of fun. I was disappointed in the image being released.”
Light blue color which is coincides with the state flag to represent the inclusion of all Oklahomans, the yellow and reddish orange meant to link to the sun. While the logo displays the club’s new nickname above a shield enclosed with a basketball emblazoned with OKC on the front.
“The bold, traditional lettering and shield of our logo have been purposefully designed with simplicity and dignity to let the power of the word ‘Thunder’ be most clearly presented,” said Bennett.
