July 1, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The NBA Free Agency period has begun and LeBron James has become the most talked about star. The teams can begin making their bids as early as 12:01am on Thursday. For LeBron James, the New York Knicks and the New Jersey Nets have both shown an interest that could end up giving him a ground breaking offer.
List of free agents this year include the likes of Dwayne Wade, Chris Bosh, Carlos boozer, Shaquille O’Neal and Ray Allen. Some new stars include Rudy Gay and David Lee. The president of the New Jersey Nets, Rod Thorn, said that this year’s free agency is unlike anything before. He explained that though there have been big-time free agents before this, there have never been so many teams trying to woo them.
He called the development unprecedented. According to Minnesota Timberwolves President David Kahn, none of the teams can claim to be in control of the situation. He felt that there were too many teams with free spaces and too many fine players ready to be taken. He said the best tactic at the moment is to be ‘nimble’ and even change course if the need arises.
Apart from LeBron James, Rudy Gay will be a hot pick for the teams with his 4 year experience and 6 rebound per game average. He is a restricted free agent for the Memphis Grizzlies and might receive offers of more than $13 million per year. He made just over$4.4 million last season. The Los Angeles Lakers are a team that others can take cue from for a winning combination of stars.
They have made the Finals in every season after getting Pau Gasol to compliment Kobe Bryant.
