Navratilova, ex-lesbian partner settle out of court for three million dollars
June 22nd, 2010 - 5:31 pm ICT by ANINew York, Jun 22 (ANI): Tennis legend Martina Navratilova, who was involved in a bitter lawsuit with her ex-lover Toni Layton, has settled the matter out of court for an estimated three million dollars.
Martina and her lover-of-eight years Toni Layton held an unofficial wedding ceremony in which they allegedly agreed to share all assets earned and obtained while in a relationship.
Layton was appointed grantor and trustee of her “wife’s” estate in 2002, but was removed from the position in 2008 after Martina accused her of abusing her power for improper purposes.
Layton, who left her husband Jeffrey Lambert for Navratilova, had sued, claiming the 18-time Grand Slam singles winner abruptly dumped her after eight years and changed the locks on their Florida home, The New York Post reports.
After a two-year battle the warring pair who were fighting over money, four homes, several cars, a boat, jewelry, a Florida animal sanctuary, art, pets and even a set of guns have quietly settled out of court.
Layton’s lawyer, Raymond Rafool, confirmed to Page Six: “All of the disputes between the parties have been resolved. The terms of the settlement are confidential.”
The pair had shared homes in Colorado and Florida, an animal sanctuary and a collection of “frog art.”
Layton also claimed part ownership of more than a dozen vehicles, including two Land Rovers, a classic Mercedes Benz and a speedboat.
In 1991, Navratilova split with Judy Nelson after eight years and paid a rumored 3.5 million dollars. (ANI)
