Sep 12, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Nate Montana the good looking son of the legendary quarterback Joe Montana has found himself to be the center of media attention after his performance on Saturday night. The 20 year old stepped up as the quarterback for the Notre Dame-Michigan match after Dayne Christ had to leave the game due to an eye injury. In spite of the hype surrounding his name and the obvious comparison to his father, Nate Montana failed to impress much on the field. The Wolverines have now strengthened their lead over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish by 2-0.
The hunt for the position of the back-up quarterback was seen getting heated up after Tommy Rees took over the position over Nate Montana before the game this Saturday. Both the players threw interceptions but Tommy Rees was quickly replaced after his first interception by the son of the legend. Starter Dayne Christ, like the earlier quarterbacks in the Notre Dame side has been plagued by injuries time and again. Tommy Rees became a strong contender for the position of the second quarterback after reports that he even challenged Nate Montana about the position.
It is obvious at this point in the career of Nate Montana that he will be compared to his legendary father Joe Montana. Some feel, however that he still has a long way to go in proving himself on the field and there is a lot of pressure on him to perform. The hosts were seen struggling in the defense against the Wolverine sensation Denard Robinson who gave a record breaking performance. The final score read 28-24 in favor of the Michigan Wolverines.
