Lahore, Oct 4(ANI): Former Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf will not be invited to join the alliance of Pakistan Muslim League (PML) factions, PML Secretary General Humayun Akhtar has said.
Akhtar said that Musharraf had been conveyed the message that he should start politics only after returning to Pakistan, and also that it is was not the right time for his return.
He further said that he has not given any advice to the former President about the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO), The Nation reports.
The five league factions would participate in a next meeting in Lahore this month to launch the alliance and prepare its manifesto.
Earlier, it was reported that Musharraf had failed to get a positive response from other political parties despite the formation of his All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) party.
Only an unfamiliar Pakistan Citizen Movement (PCM) has encouraged Musharraf in Lahore, and announced an immediate merger with the APML.
PCM is a young political party founded five years ago, but it has experience of electoral politics after participating in the 2008 general elections.
Musharraf announced his decision to join politics by formally launching his party in a ceremony in London last Friday.
Talking to participants, Musharraf had said that he decided to join politics because there was no politician in Pakistan capable of getting the country out of the multiple challenges it faces.
He also claimed that the country had progressed under his nine-year rule, but admitted that he had committed some political mistakes. (ANI)
