Musharraf reigns as Army Chief in embassies still!April 16th, 2008 - 12:05 pm ICT by admin
Washington, Apr 16 (ANI): Even after five months of Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf stepping down as army chief, Pakistani embassies around the world have official portraits showing him full Army dress and regalia, thereby bringing embarrassment for those at the helm at these embassies.
Musharraf had stepped down as Pakistan Army chief on November 28.
Pakistan embassy in Washington is no exception. On the wall, next to the Quaid-e-Azams portrait, painted by Bevan Petman more than half a century ago, hangs the photograph of an unsmiling President Musharraf in uniform, complete with all the medals he has earned over his long career, reported the Daily Times.
Journalists noticing the picture as they filed past it for Finance Minister Ishaq Dars address at the weekend, asked an embassy official why the portrait had not been replaced with one showing the president in civvies. The official rolled his eyes and said, An official picture in civilian dress is still awaited from Islamabad. (ANI)
