Murray needs to acquire in your face attitude to win Grand Slam: Henman
December 1st, 2010 - 2:43 pm ICT by ANI London, Dec.1 (ANI): Former British number one Tim Henman and ex-Wimbledon champion Goran Ivanisevic have advised World number four Andy Murray to acquire an in your face attitude if he ever wants to win a Grand Slam title.
“Andy’s game style is the issue because he’s got all the shots. When he’s been successful in the tournaments he won this year - in Shanghai and Toronto and his performance to get to the final in Australia - he’s been pro-active, making things happen. He knows when he plays Rafael Nadal he has to be aggressive because Nadal’s just going to be hitting him off the court so he plays aggressively and they’ve had great matches,” The Sun quoted Henman, as saying.
“I’d like to see him do that against the lesser players because then it will become second nature when he has to step up against other top names like Roger Federer or Novak Djokovic. He appreciates that and he’s improving as a player so fingers crossed he can take that into 2011 and win a Grand Slam title,” he added.
Ivanisevic also said: “I want him to be more aggressive. First of all, his second serve is not that good, it’s a little bit short? He should come a little bit more to the net to finish the point. He’s ready to win a Grand Slam. He beat all those guys before and he played an unbelievable match one year in the US Open against Nadal in the semis, he killed him.”
“I know there’s huge pressure on him to win, but I think he can do it. He has the shots; he is a great tennis player. He was twice in finals and both times he didn’t play well,” he added.
“So, I think, in those big matches, he should just go for it because he is not going to have 55 chances. He is ready, he has proved that before so he just has to be a little bit more aggressive,” Ivanisevic said. (ANI)
