London, Nov 19(ANI): British tennis player Andy Murray has said he is looking forward to utilizing the huge home advantage at the O2 Arena for the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals, which start on Sunday.
The tournament has switched to London for five years after moving around the world, and the highest-ranked British player aims to finish the season on a high under the home comforts.
“I’m really looking forward to giving it one last push before the end of the year. It’s good to be in London and it is a good sign for tennis in Britain if it can sell more than 250,000 tickets over the eight days,” The Daily Express quoted Murray, as saying.”That’s incredible and it shows there must be a lot of interest and not just around Wimbledon. It’s just getting people to play tennis competitively that seems the hard part,” he added.
The 22-year-old further said the competition is a tough one as it is the clash of the champions.
Murray is in Group A, where he will face World No.1 Roger Federer, US Open champion Juan Martin del Potro and Fernando Verdasco, the Spaniard who began the year by knocking Murray out of the Australian Open.”All of the guys are tough otherwise they wouldn’t be here. Rafael Nadal is always going to be tough because he’s such a competitor and when Roger’s at his best there’s no one tougher. Soderling’s record indoors is one of the best in the world. He’s a very good guy to have stepped in for Roddick, but that shows you what quality there is around,” Murray said.”People who saw Rafa’s matches in Paris say he was struggling a little bit and he said he wasn’t that happy with the way he is playing, either,” he added.
