Murray first Brit to win Grand Slam men’s singles title in 76 years

Novak Djokovic New York, Sep 11 (IANS) Andy Murray has become the first British man in 76 years to win a Grand Slam singles title when he overpowered Novak Djokovic of Serbia in the final, 7-6 (12/10), 7-5, 2-6, 3-6, 6-2, here at the Arthur Ashe Stadium.

Murray, 25, fresh from his London Olympic Games triumph over Roger Federer last month, Monday earned a $1.9 million with the title, reports Xinhua.
