London, Nov 15 (ANI): Ace tennis player Andy Murray is determined to end the playing season on a high note by winning the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals in London.
The event, being held in the capital for the first time and featuring the world’s top eight players, starts at the O2 Arena.
Murray said: “Everyone wants to play in the end-of-year championships. Some of the greatest players ever have won it, so it’s obviously an important competition. It’s big for all of the players.”
The World No.4 made the semi-finals in China last year and goes into the tournament with plenty of confidence after winning his sixth title of 2009 in Valencia on his return from six weeks out with a wrist injury, News of the World reports.
“Novak Djokovic has been playing well, Roger Federer for sure is going to play well in London. If Rafa Nadal is physically good, then he’s one of the toughest competitors ever. All of the guys that are there are going to have a shot at winning it. That’s why they’re there,” he said.
Murray and the rest of the field - Federer, Nadal, Djokovic, Juan Martin Del Potro, Andy Roddick, Nikolay Davydenko and Fernando Verdasco - will be treated like royalty throughout the week of the Finals.
If they choose to, they can take a boat from their hotel along the River Thames to the O2 Arena and when they get there, they will be playing in front of capacity crowds of 20,000, the paper reports. (ANI)
