London, Apr 7(ANI): Sri Lankan off-spinner Muttiah Muralidaran, who was worried about the United Kingdom’s new visa regulations, has secured a work permit to play county cricket.

Muralidaran’s manager, Kushil Gunasekera, said that the British authorities had expedited his visa and he will join Gloucestershire in June.

“He wishes to thank the British authorities for quickly issuing him with a visa,” Fox Sports quoted Gunasekera, as saying.

The Sri Lanka spin king had signed a deal to represent the Gladiators in this season’s Friends Life Twenty20, however new visa regulations in the United Kingdom had put the move on hold.

A recent change in the country’s visa rules requires those applying for work permits to prove their English language skills at an examination.
