Munaf to bolster Indian squad
August 12th, 2010 - 5:29 pm ICT by IANSMumbai, Aug 12 (IANS) Fast bowler Munaf Patel will be joining the Indian squad to bolster its pace battery for the ongoing triangular one-day series in Sri Lanka, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said Thursday.
“Munaf Patel is joining the Indian team in Sri Lanka as an additional member of the squad. He will reach Dambulla tomorrow,” BCCI secretary N. Srinivasan said in a statement.
The decision to send Patel comes after India lost their opening match of the series to New Zealand by 200 runs in Dambulla Tuesday. India next face Sri Lanka, Monday.
The 27-year-old Munaf has taken 47 wickets in 43 one-day internationals.
