Mumbai, Apr 20 (ANI): After sloppy fielding that cost them a game against Kochi Tuskers, Mumbai Indians hope to retain the winning fizz with spruced-up fielding, in their fourth game of Indian Premiere League (IPL) season-4 against Sahara Pune Warriors.
Thus a day prior to the match, the players of Mumbai Indians were seen sweating out at the nets with a serious session of practising catches on Tuesday.
Fielding was spotted as the weak link during the game with lots of sloppy fielding and drop of catches that led to a defeat even with formidable score on the board.
Robin Singh, coach of Mumbai Indians, said the team did analyse the mistakes in the previous game of April 15 and are now looking forward to perform well against Sahara Pune Warriors.
“Obviously we have reflected on the last game and there are few areas we really need to tighten upon, so, I think we are very positive we are looking forward to the next match,” said Robin Singh.
However, he was defensive when critics turned their back towards Rohit Sharma as he dropped the catch of Brendon McCullum, who with his smashing hits paved the winning path for Kochi Tuskers.
“No, it is just that anyone can drop a catch I don’t think you got there and drop a catch Obviously, it was a costly miss. But not only that catch there were couple of catches. Certainly our fielding in that game (against Kochi Tuskers Kerala) was not up to the match. That is one area we have been working on pretty desperately to rectify during the last 4 or 5 days,” added Robin Singh.
The West Indies-born former player of Indian team was all praise for the cricketing maestro Sachin Tendulkar who was his teammate during 1990s.
He said that the passion exhibited by Tendulkar acts as a boost for the rest of the team.
Mumbai Indians is led by Sachin Tendulkar and is owned by multi-millionaire Mukesh Ambani whereas southpaw Yuvraj Singh is captaining Sahara Pune Warrior and owned by Sahara Adventure Sports Limited. (ANI)
