Berlin, Jan 11 (IANS) Bundesliga side Schalke 04 announced the signing of defensive midfielder Roman Neustadter on a four-year contract from rivals Borussia Monchengladbach.
The 23-year-old Neustadter has been at Monchengladbach since 2009 but said he did not want to renew his contract, Xinhua reported.
Schalke currently ranked third in the German league, three points behind leaders Bayern Munich and one ahead of Gladbach.
Neustadter’s departure represents another blow to Monchengladbach’s future plans, with star playmaker Marco Reus already confirming that he will be off to Borussia Dortmund in the summer.
