Mohsin lauds Pak team for impressive show in ongoing Windies tour
April 28th, 2011 - 2:56 pm ICT by ANILahore, April 28(ANI): Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chief Selector Mohsin Khan has lauded the national team for their impressive performance in the ongoing Caribbean tour.
Pakistan have taken a 2-0 lead in the five-match series after registering a comfortable eight-wicket win against the West Indies in the first ODI on Saturday, and a seven-wicket win on Monday.
Mohsin said the Pakistan team’s overall performance was praiseworthy, and that he was sure the players would continue to performwell throughout the series.
“It is great pleasure to see that the team played the first two ODIs with a game-plan, showing improvement in batting, bowling and fielding departments,” the Dawn quoted Mohsin, as saying.
He said the series had provided a good opportunity to Pakistan’s youngsters to prove their mettle, adding that they must avail this opportunity, as it would benefit them in the future.
“I hope every youngster whether he is a batsman or a bowler will get full advantage of the chance he is given as it will be very useful for the future of Pakistan cricket,” said Mohsin.
He also praised the performance of middle-order batsman Asad Shafiq and opener Ahmed Shehzad in the two ODIs.
“Asad is showing improvement every passing day as far as maturity is concerned, and Ahmed, after his failure in the World Cup, got another chance, and his century in the second ODI was a responsible knock. He will be very useful for the team if he continues his good performance,” said Mohsin.
He also noted that senior players like Misbah-ul-Haq, Shahid Afridi and Mohammad Hafeez were making sure that they were fulfilling their responsibilities.
“I hope and I am sure all the good work will continue till the end of the series,” Mohsin stated.
He also praised the bowlers, saying: “Spinners are doing a great job, but it is difficult for fast bowlers on slow wickets. Still, they are trying very hard, which is a good omen.”
The third and fourth ODIs will be played on April 28 and May 2 at Kensington Oval in Barbados, with the final match of the series on May 5 at the Guyana National Stadium. (ANI)
