Lahore, Jan.15 (ANI): Banned Pakistani fast bowler Mohammad Asif will be in New Delhi today to resolve some financial issues with the Delhi Daredevils, the team he represents in the Indian Premiere League (IPL).
I am going to Delhi to try and sort out some financial issues with the Daredevils, The Daily Times quoted Asif, as saying.
Accompanied by his lawyer, Asif rejected the notion that his visit to India is in connection with the hearing regarding his case in the doping scandal during the first season of the IPL in April last year.
Ill be there for a couple of days but the visit has nothing to do with my IPL tribunal hearing, he said.
It is believed that the Delhi Daredevils are yet to pay Asifs outstanding dues from last season. The payment may be linked to the fate of his doping case after he tested positive for a banned steroid during the first season of the IPL.
Asif is scheduled to visit India again on January 24 to attend the hearing of the three-man tribunal appointed by the IPL in the doping scandal.
Mohammad Asif is the second most expensive Pakistani player after Shahid Afridi to play in the Indian Premier League. The Delhi Daredevils bought Asif for 650,000 dollars on a three-year contract. Though the doping scandal proved costly for him as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) suspended him from all cricket and stopped his central contract earnings. (ANI)
