Modest day for Indian golfers at Ballantine Championship
April 28th, 2011 - 8:34 pm ICT by IANSSeoul, April 28 (IANS) None of the Indians were able to break par, as Gaganjeet Bhullar and Shiv Kapur shot 72 each and were the best Indians in tied 36th place in the first round of the 2.2 million pounds Ballantine’s Championship here Thursday.
They were six strokes behind Ireland’s Damien McGrane, who played in the morning cold by carding six-under-par 66 to take the opening round lead.
World No.1 Lee Westwood was also tied 36th with 72.
Jeev Milkha Singh, shot a 74 and was tied 74th, while Anirban Lahiri (75) was tied 93rd and Jyoti Randhawa’s struggle continued with a 77 that saw him tied 125th.
Korea’s Park Sang-hyun took a share of second place alongside England’s Richard Finch and Chile’s Felipe Aguilar on matching 67s while Scotland’s Richie Ramsay is one back on 68 in fifth place with Thailand’s Chinnarat Phadungsil.
