Dec 14, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Minnesota metrodome collapse is hogging the spotlight now. A New York based company named Birdair Inc made and installed the roof. The company representatives came on Monday to see the damage. The damaged roof panels are going to be replaced soon and if the roof can not be replaced soon The Vikings would have to play the game slated on next Monday at the TCF Bank Stadium. However, it has not been fixed. The Vikings had been asking for a new stadium for quite some time and the collapse of the metrodome has added momentum to their demand. The lease of the Vikings will expire after 2011 and this has forced the team to try a number of options.
The Vikings VP for stadium development and public affairs Lester Bagley said that it is not the proper time to discuss the topic officially and decision would be taken at an appropriate time. The teflon roof of the dome earlier collapsed thrice in between 1981 to 1983. Thereafter the Metropolitan Sports Facilities Commission took a strategy to stop similar occurrences in future. When snow built up on its top, they pumped in hot air between the layers of the roof to melt it. Hot water hoses were also used to melt the snow built up.
The stadium workers began the clean up process on Sunday. Roy Terwilliger the Metropolitan Sports Facilities Commission chairman expressed his view that the roof can be repaired soon. The political leaders have pledged helplessness over the topic saying that the team needs to clear a deficit worth $6 billion first.
