Richmond, Dec.7, (THAINDIAN NEWS) College football coach Mike London is expected to be the next coach to guide the football team of University of Virginia, sources have revealed. A press conference is likely to be held later today, where the Richmond coach would be declared as the new head coach to guide the Cavaliers. The decision comes following the termination of the former coach Al Groh, which took place about a week ago.
At the same time, various reports are claiming that the veteran coach has already agreed to the contract and has accepted the job offer. Moreover, Dennis Cordell, the head coach’s agent has revealed that the press conference has been called after the Virginia officials asked for Richmond’s permission so that they could have a discussion with their head coach, Mike London. Reportedly, the permission was requested after the Richmond team Spiders were defeated by the Appalachian State, which marked the end of their season.
Apparently it seems that Virginia is going to pay less to Mike London than what is used to pay to the former coach Al Groh. However, it is presumed that the new job for the veteran coach would turn out to be quite lucrative as he is expected to receive four times more than what he made previously.
Apart from Virginia, other schools which intended to rope in Mike London include Memphis, Western Kentucky and Akron. The 49 year old coach guided his Richmond team FCS to championship victory last year and at the same time has 24-5 record in two years at Richmond.
