cottoNew York, June 6, (THAINDIAN NEWS) After suffering two knockouts by Antonio Margarito and Manny Pacquiao in recent past, on Saturday night Miguel Cotto left no chance for his opponent boxer Yuri Foreman to defeat him.

One of the favorite Puerto Rican boxer of the New York boxing fans, Miguel Cotto went on to win the World Boxing Association’s junior middleweight title at the Yankee stadium that hosted a boxing game for the first time in the last 34 years reportedly.

The decision went in favor of Miguel Cotto just 42 seconds into the ninth round when the referee stopped that game to hold the hand of Miguel Cotto high.

The game that lasted for nine rounds saw Miguel Cotto in an aggressive mood. On the other hand Yuri Foreman entered the ring with a brace in his right knee.

Though at the beginning Yuri Foreman provided some defense and punches, the day was no doubt set for Miguel Cotto. The seventh round of the game provided an altogether different turn to it when Yuri Foreman’s right knee brace buckled and he fell.

Though the player stood up and fought back, his flexibility was affected to a large extent and for the rest of the two rounds he was at the receiving end.

As the trainer of Miguel Cotto said, the player went for a “perfect fight”. He did not provide his opponent with an opportunity to fight back and rained punches on him.

During the eight round of the game the referee asked Yuri Foreman whether he wanted to continue the game to which the later answered positively.

However, 42 seconds into the ninth round the game was declared over in favor of Miguel Cotto.
