Sep 12, (THAINDIAN NEWS) It was definitely not a day for Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Saturday. The quarterback of the team Dayne Crist had to leave the field early in the first quarter of the game against Michigan Wolverines owing to his head injury. The quarterback of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish played their first half without him though he was replaced by Tommy Rees. On the other hand the Michigan Wolverines Football team took the full opportunity of the situation and scored a 28-24 to turn the game in their favor.
Dayne Crist returned the field in the second half and finished with 277 yards and two touchdowns passing. He managed to complete 13 of 25 with one interception. Denard Robinson of Michigan Wolverines team was the show stopper as he drove his team down the field with his passing and running along with scoring and winning touchdown with 27 seconds remaining in the game. Denard Robinson accrued a total of 502 yards and led hi9s team to a 28-24 win. At the halftime of the match, coach Brian Kelly seemed low when he said that the team is going to see if they can get him ready for the second half. The coach also added that the team officials will not put Dayne Crist on the game unless he is fit enough to protect himself.
The whole match took its turn after 31 yard pass from Denard Robinson set up a 1-yard scoring dive from Stephen Hopkins and making the score a 14-7 late in the first. The veteran players of Notre Dame Fighting Irish seemed not in their forms as they were seen struggling in the fields. Even some other players like center Dan Wenger, offensive tackle Lane Clelland and linebacker Steve Paskorz were not in the field.
