Bloomington, Oct 3, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Saturday’s football match between Michigan and Indiana, turned out to be an highly exciting experience for the Michigan fans, as Michigan and Indiana had a cut throat competition after the halftime. However, lady luck was smiling at the Michigan Wolverines as it registered a 42-35 victory against Indiana.
The halftime ended with a draw of 21-21. This may be pertained to the poor defense of Michigan and remarkably good offensive strategy of Indiana. Michigan got a total offense of 568 yards that included 480 yards passing. The 480 yards produced by Indiana quarterback Ben Chappell, was overshadowed by Michigan defense after a prolonged struggle of 568 yard. The conversion mark of Indiana was 11-of-19, while that of Michigan was 2-of-7. The Hoosiers had 35 first downs against Michigan’s 15, running 98 offensive plays to Wolverines’ 45. Michigan’s poor defense in the field was for 98 plays, when it had to make 100 tackles.
Indiana’s offense player, Ben Chappell had thrown for 233 yards and 2 touchdowns for his team, due to which the halftime could end in draw, with a score of 21-21 in the first half. He delivered a 72 yard drive 10-play. It was due to him that Indiana could tie the game with 3-yard scoring pass to Damarlo Belcher in the first half. But finally, Michigan were able to take control because of Denard Robinson, who made an average of 17 yards per carry, up to up to 154 rushing yards, with an average of 2 touch downs.
Although Michigan won the game, it became quite clear to them, that there defense needs to be improved considerably, as the competition was quite close. Struggling to tackle has always been very typically associated with Michigan.
