wieGuadalajara, Nov. 16, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Michelle Wie won the Lorena Ochoa Invitational against Paula Creamer, the first major win of her career in the tournament. In order to reach 6 under, she got an eagle on 10. She also shot a 3-woods and then shot a five foot putt for an eagle. She achieved three birdies at the 1st, 3rd and eleventh holes despite dropping the shot before the 17th hole and missing a four foot par putt. Her winning shot came in the form of a straight 30 yard bunker spot that landed a foot away from the hole and made a tap-in birdie. She won by two strokes, firing a final round 3 under par 69.

Her win comes despite a nagging ankle injury that she doesn’t want to talk about, and that refuses to heal fast enough and is forcing her to wear a huge brace that finishes just above her shoe. She was clearly exhilarated about the win. However, she said that she still had a long way to go and assured that it was just the beginning. She hoped that things would be finally better now that she has one major win in her kitty. When asked about her spectacular last shot, she said that she did not have to work too hard on it as it was the kind of shot she was comfortable delivering.

Wie had burst into the scene at the age of thirteen. She had become a professional by the time she had reached the age of sixteen, and was being endorsed by Nike and Sony. She had finished in the second position earlier in this season. She had also remained undefeated in the Solheim Cup. the first in a tournament ever since she won the U.S. Women’s Amateur Public Links in 2003.
