Dallas, Feb 8 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Philadelphia Eagles quarterback, Michael Vick, was given the key to the city of Dallas. Well as it later turned out, that was not the real key to the city.

Vick was given the key by Mayor Pro Tem Dwaine Caraway. The action made many people angry. Most of the anger came from animal rights activists and later the city’s Mayor.

Mayor Tom Leppert had no knowledge about the event. He later released a strong worded statement that condemned the action. He also distanced himself and his office from the incident.

Vick was convicted with running a dogfighting ring. He was arrested and later sentenced to 19 months in federal prison. He served his time and came back strongly into the game again. This caused the AP to give the player the Comeback Player of the Year award.

Caraway doesn’t see anything wrong with what he did. He believes that Vick has learnt his lessons and people should learn to forgive him.

Caraway said that Vick is telling children “to obey their parents and pick the people they hang around. That’s a message I would challenge anybody to say that not one kid across America shouldn’t hear from people in notoriety such as Michael Vick.”
