Chicago, Dec 25 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The former NBA star Michael Jordan is suing Chicago’s two huge grocery store chains for illegal advertisements that feature him. The advertisements allegedly imply that Michael Jordan endorses them.

Michael Jordan filed suit on Monday in Cook County Circuit Court against the Jewel and Dominick’s supermarket chains for false endorsement and deceptive business practices in connection with congratulatory ads appearing in a special edition of Sports Illustrated magazine honoring his induction into the Basketball Hall of Fame this year, The Chicago Sun-Times reported.

The newspaper said that the Dominick’s ad resembles a billboard and shows Michael Jordan’s name, his Bulls number 23, a basketball and a photo of a steak with a coupon accompanied by the phrase “You are a cut above.” The lawsuit says that the NBA star Michael Jordan already has licensed his name to a pair of steakhouses and hawks steaks online.

The Sun-Times also reported that the Jewel ad includes a pair of basketball shoes with a number 23 on the tongues, which the suit claims is a “misleading copy of Air Jordan Basketball shoes.” Michael Jordan has filed suit against both the chains and is seeking $5 million from each of the chains.
