Miandad alleges lobby inside PCB threatening to destabilize the boardJanuary 10th, 2009 - 7:11 pm ICT by ANI
Lahore, Jan.10 (ANI): Pakistan Cricket boards Director-General Javed Miandad has alleged that there are some people who are trying to destabilize the board.
“There is a move on to destabilise the Board and make it seem as if the officials are not working and coordinating together. But the fact is the Chairman (Ejaz Butt) has full faith in me and we have a very good relationship and everyone is doing the job assigned to him,” the News quoted Miandad, as saying.
He said there was a lobby, trying to create the impression that things were getting out of control in the board, which was heading for a split.
Miandad however, hoped that things would improve in the coming days.
“Everything is fine and hopefully things will improve with time,” he said.
Miandad refused reports about his rift with the PCB chairman over awarding the central contracts to the players.
I have no issues with not being involved in the central contracts process as I have been given other more important tasks. And the Chairman has not asked me to not speak to the media. This is not true,” Miandad said.
Miandad also said he was not concerned at yet not having signed an official contract with the PCB as its Director General.
“I don”t think this is such a big issue. I am happy to be working for the betterment of cricket in Pakistan. I will finalise my contractual terms soon with the board,” Miandad said.
Sources also say that Miandad has asked for a hefty salary package which the Chairman of the PCB has not approved yet. (ANI)
