Mercedes F1 team makes ‘choose your job’ offer to Michael Schumacher
November 25th, 2009 - 4:27 pm ICT by ANILondon, Nov 25(ANI): The Mercedes Formula One racing team has made a ‘choose your job’ offer to seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher in a desperate bid to persuade the nation’s most famous racer to join.
According to reports, Mercedes officials have told him that he can have any job in the team even if he does not want to race.
Mercedes are not only prepared to put him in the seat vacated by world champion Jenson Button’s move to McLaren, but are open to discussion on a variety of other roles whether in the cockpit, management or as a roving ambassador and advisor, The Mirror reports.
After Button decided to sign for McLaren last week, speculations had been mounting about Schumacher’s comeback to spearhead the official return of Mercedes for the first time since 1955.
However, team principal of Mercedes F1 team Ross Brawn confirmed that Schumacher would not come out of retirement to drive for them.
It was effectively ruled out when German driver Nico Rosberg was confirmed as Mercedes’ first nominated driver for next season.
Kimi Raikkonen and Nick Heidfeld are in the frame to partner Rosberg. (ANI)
