menVancouver, Feb 17, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Men’s Figure Skating short Program on Tuesday, February 16 mesmerized the audience. With the return of some of the best performers on the ice again, this became a grand event. While Russian Evgeny Plushenko was back with his jumps and lauds, the 10,000 and more audience enjoyed the performance of America’s Evan Lysacek, who is the present world champion. This year the competition appears to be quite difficult, as the scores of Tuesday displayed. While Evgeny Plushenko scored 90.85, Evan Lysacek managed to score 90.30, only 0.55 behind the Russian. Daisuke Takahashi of Japan, gave a tough fight with a score only 0.60 behind the first.

Ten performers took the ice floor before Evgeny Plushenko started with a brilliant quad toe loop and triple toe loop combination. However, the “Quad King” Evgeny Plushenko is not feared by Evan Lysacek of USA, who says that he has got enough trick other than quad to take the gold to his nation. On the other hand, a brilliant performance was given by Japan’s Daisuke Takahashi. His performance, which was marked by really innovative foot works and spins, was different from that of the others and his scores showed that there are scopes for innovations too in Olympics.

According to spectators and coaches, this year the Men’s figure skating will be a real tough competition and anybody can end up in the top slot. Stephane Lambiel of Switzerland, France’s Brian Joubert, Canada’s Patrick Chan, and US champion Jeremy Abbott- all seem to be in a form where they can knock out the leading men at the finals.
