mayaApr 5 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Maya Moore of the University of Connecticut’s women’s basketball team won the award for the State Farm Wade Trophy Player of the Year. She was conferred the honor on Saturday, and is only the third player in the history of the award to be given it two times. However, she was not the only one to have been conferred the title. The other player who won the award was Tina Charles, also from the University of Connecticut, and a team member of Maya Moore. Besides winning the trophy, Maya Moore was also named a part of the State Farm All-American team.

This is the second time in a row that the trophy went to Maya Moore. The ceremony was held in Alamodome. She was the second favorite, as per the ballots, in which she managed four votes. After winning the award, she seemed even more excited about the fact that Tina Charles had also been named to the Stare Farm All-American team, full of praise for her team mate, saying that she had appreciated the way Tina Charles grew in her game, saying that she definitely gave her 100 percent when she played. Tina Charles, on the other hand, was also full of praise for Maya Moore, saying that it was for Maya Moore that she had actually been able to do whatever she managed to in the current season.

Both the players are joined in the team by Kelsey Griffin, from the University of Nebraska. The other players who have been bestowed with the great honor are Jantel Lavender, Victoria Dunlap, Amber Harris, Monica Wright, Danielle Robinson, Nnemkadi Ogwumike and Jayne Appel.
