May enter Bengal cricket administration someday: Sourav
February 14th, 2011 - 12:52 am ICT by IANSKolkata, Feb 13 (IANS) Former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly said Sunday he might enter West Bengal’s cricket administration “someday”.”Honestly, I have not really though about it. It’s a special place for me. Most of them have seen me grow up. It’s a tough situation for me but maybe someday,” said Sourav when asked at an eveent when he was going to take over the reins from Jagmohan Dalmiya.
When cricket commentator and programme host Mandira Bedi asked if it would be someday soon, Ganguly smiled and evaded the question.
Ganguly’s remarks come a week after he had expressed his intentions in an interview to a television channel to enter cricket administration.
Rated as one of the greatest-ever skippers of India, Ganguly had successfully led the national squad for five years.
He had announced retirement from international cricket Oct 7, 2008 in Bangalore, at the beginning of the home Test series against Australia.
Since then, Ganguly had been turning out in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for Kolkata Knight Riders and for Bengal in the Ranji Trophy.
However, the Kolkatan did not find any takers among the IPL franchisees in the auctions held last month ahead of the fourth IPL.
The Kochi franchisee later evinced interest in Ganguly, but the move proved futile as other franchisees objected to the move.
