New Delhi, March 30 (IANS) All Delhi government departments were shut down Wednesday after 1.30 p.m. to allow their employees to watch the World Cup cricket semifinal between India and Pakistan in Mohali.

“A half day holiday has been announced in view of today’s (Wednesday) World Cup semifinal match at Mohali. The offices will remain closed after lunch hour,” a Delhi government press release stated.

According to a survey by Assocham in Mumbai, Delhi, Chandigarh, Pune and Bangalore of 500 corporate employees in 50 offices, most have admitted that they won’t be able to concentrate on their work owing to the high-voltage India-Pakistan clash.

Around 60 percent of employees from 50 corporate offices have given casual leave applications for Wednesday, the survey states.
