Marsh blames loose bowling for Pune Warriors loss

Mumbai, Apr 18 (ANI): Geoff Marsh, coach of ‘Pune Warriors’, has blamed some loose bowling for the loss against Delhi Daredevils.
‘Delhi Daredevils’ trounced ‘Pune Warriors’ by three wickets in a high scoring match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) to register their first win in the fourth edition tournament in western Mumbai city on Sunday.
Chasing an uphill target of 188, Delhi crossed the line with four balls to spare as David Warner (46), Virender Sehwag (37), Venugopal Rao (31) and Aaron Finch (25) contributed with the bat.
“I think it was a good score. I think our batters batted really well. We just allowed them to hit too many sixers and too many fours. In Twenty20 if you can restrict sixers and fours then you win most games, but we bowled little bit wide to Sehwag and Warner. They got off really good start,” said Marsh.
However, Yuvraj Singh was adjudged Man-of-the-Match for his all-round show.
Sehwag, skipper of ‘Delhi Daredevils’, said that 20 runs scored in the 18th over bowled by Shrikant Wagh was the turning point of the match.
“When we needed 41 runs in the last three overs we thought we may not cruise to the game, but Venugopal and Flinch batted really well and 20 runs came in that fast bowler’s over, left-arm fast bowler Wagh. I thing that was the turning point,” said Sehwag.
Warner and skipper Sehwag started splendidly with a 75-run opening stand but a slew of wickets reduced Delhi to 120 for five before they were resurrected by lower middle order.
“I think before the last over we bowled really well and we batted really well. So everybody scored 20’s or 30’s and it was great effort by Delhi Daredevils at the end,” added Sehwag.
Earlier, opener Jesse Ryder (60) and skipper Yuvraj Singh (66 not out) help ‘Pune Warriors’ to score 187 for five. (ANI)
