Marquis Daniels’ “Celtic Season”

July 18th, 2009 - 6:37 pm ICT by GD

act_marquis_danielsAccording to the sources, Free Agent Marquis Daniels has reportedly agreed to sign himself up with the Celtic, thus committing himself for the team. If everything favors the ex-Pacer player, Daniels is supposed to receive the bi-annual exception contract of $1.9 million , unless a sign-and-trade deal can be worked out with his former team i.e. the Pacers.

Rumors say that Daniels is expected to be used as a back up for Ray Allen and Paul Pierce, averaged 13.6 points and 4.6 rebounds last season for Indiana. According to the sources, The Pacers gradually declined to exercise their option on Daniels, which would have been worth of $7.3 million next season. Daniels, who started his career in Dallas, was also in talking terms with the Mavericks, Charlotte, Houston, New York and Orlando.

Daniels is supposed to come at Boston either as a free-agent or as a part of “sign and trade” deal. The 28 year old shooting averaged 13.6 points per game and 2 assists last season for the pacers. Till date, Daniels has played as many as six seasons of NBA, which includes three seasons with Dallas and three seasons with Indiana.

Daniels, who is supposed to play for the Celtics henceforth, had two very good games against his “would be” team last season. During the second game of the year, a 95-79 demolition of the C’s at the hands of India witnessed Daniels powerful contribution, where the shoot guard scored 13 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks. Later on during the 122-117 win of the Celtics against the Pacers witnessed Daniels netting 26 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists.
Only the time will be the witness whether Daniel would live up to his expectations or not, during his stint with the Celtics.
