Mark Teixeira Hits A Two Run Homer In Seventh Against Minnesota Twins

Mark TeixeiraOct 7, (THAINDIAN NEWS) In a rather dramatic start to the best-of-5 match up between the Minnesota Twins and the New York Yankees, Mark Teixeira pulled off a two run homer in the seventh to give his side the clinching lead. Mark Teixeira said that all he wanted was pitch up in the zone because he did not want hit it to a double play. He said that it was pitched where he wanted and he got a good swing at it.

Nick Swisher of the New York Yankees said after the win that there was no time to mess around in the series. The game had its share of ups and downs before Mark Teixeira pulled off the homer. The New York Yankees overcame a three run deficit in the sixth inning and it looked like the game was evenly poised for a dramatic finish.

With a 3-0 lead till the 5th inning it looked like there was not much work left for the Minnesota Twins to do. It was, however, Curtis Granderson who hit a two run triple that saw the lead disappear in a flash and put the New York Yankees at a comfortable 4-3. It was then than Mark Teixeira came into the picture. With a homer that was safely away from the right field foul pole, he gave his side a lead that they needed to hold on to. The New York Yankees managed to keep the remaining innings as uneventful as possible and thus finished with the final score of 6-4. The win was a crucial one in the series as it came for the New York Yankees against the home team.
