Nov. 6, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Kansas City utility player Mark Teahen has been reported to be shifting to the Chicago White Sox team. He would be traded with Chris Getz and Josh Fields. Mark Teahen played as the left handed hitter while Getz played as the second baseman. Josh fields is an infielder. Neither of the teams have yet confirmed the news, though they have not dismissed it as a rumor either. The Royals’ public relations department announced that the manager of the team, Dayton Moore had reported that there was nothing worth announcing at present. The director for media relations of the Chicago White Sox said that the team has not yet reached a definite conclusion.
Teahen was apparently in darkness for a long time and refused to divulge any details even after hearing the news, saying that it would be against official conduct. He however said that he had not heard any official confirmation from the Sox. However, the Sox’s decision seems to be quite in keeping with their latest bid to look for younger players at a relatively smaller price. Teahen is 28 years old and is a veteran player. He is likely to add a certain measure of versatility, experience and skill to the team’s lineup. On the downside, the Sox might have to pay a lot for Teahen in exchange for players who charged almost five times less.
It is likely that if the deal goes through, Teahen would be playing at the third base. The present third base player, Gordon Beckham, will be moving on to play at the second base. There was speculation that Teahen would be more likely to replace right-fielder Jermaine Dye or play in the second base.
