Mark Mcgwire Admits Using Performance Enhancing Drugs

Jan 12, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Former baseball player Mark McGwire has created quite a buzz as he has admitted to have used performance enhancing drugs during his career as Major League baseball player. The 46 year old former baseball player has expressed apology for resorting to steroids, which he used for almost a period of ten years.
In a statement that has been published on the online portal of the Major League Baseball, the much acclaimed player has accepted that he used the performance enhancing drugs for a short period of time during the 1989-1990 offseason. Moreover, the former player also admitted that he administered steroids later again in the year 1993, following his injury.
At the same time, Mark McGwire also revealed that he had resorted to using performance improving drugs almost throughout the 1990s- including the 1998 season, when the reputed player gained recognition as he broke the single-season home run record. However, Mark McGwire has expressed regret for using the performance enhancing drugs and added that it was a huge mistake on his part to showcase such kind of behavior.
Meanwhile, the former player had been under much scrutiny since 2005, when he refused to divulge any details about his drug use during a Congressional hearing. Supposedly, the evasiveness displayed by the player went a long way in jeopardizing his reputation as one of the most reputed player’s of the game.
During his league career, Mark McGuire has been associated with Oakland Athletics and the St. Louis Cardinals. Meanwhile, it was announced in the month of October last year, that the former player would be the hitting coach of the St. Louis Cardinals for the 2010 season.
