New York, Dec. 13, (THAINDIAN NEWS) This year, Heisman Trophy brought some good news for the Alabama team and their running back player Mark Ingram. Saturday night, Mark Ingram, went to New York City’s Nokia Theater to accept his first Heisman Trophy. Mark Ingram, the son of famous sportsperson Mark Ingram Sr., displayed an outstanding performance this year and was named as the best ‘college football player’ of United States.

Mark Ingram’s good game helped him claim the Heisman Trophy in an extremely close race with only twenty-eight points more than Standford University’s Toby Gerhart. The young player was honored to receive this trophy and his emotions were etched out clearly on his face. He came on the stage with tears in his eyes and a wavering voice. Though he wiped away his tears before his speech, he could not control his emotions and his voice broke throughout the length of his speech.

In his speech, Mark Ingram said that he was ‘overwhelmed’ to receive the Heisman Trophy. He also said that he was ‘excited’ for bringing the Heisman Trophy to Alabama University for the first time. Heisman Trophy, named after John Heisman [ex-football coach], is awarded to the outstanding college footballer of the year and is one of the most prestigious trophies for college football players. This year Mark Ingram’s performance made him the owner of this award and raised people’s expectation of him considerably. As a Heisman Trophy winner, fans are hopeful to see a brilliant performance from him when his team will play the most awaited national championship match in Pasadena on January 7.
