June 25th, 2009 - 8:23 pm ICT by GD
At around 8 a.m on Wednesday, Mark Becker , a young man from Parkersburg shot dead his former high school coach Ed Thomas. The incident occurred in front of students belonging to the Aplington- Parkersburg High School. He was soon arrested by the local Police department. But what has been the talk-about of the town is the fact that this wasn’t Becker’s first violent attack. He had earlier attacked the house of his classmate who lives in Cedar falls, by suddenly breaking the windows of his house with baseball bats and then driving off into his car. The Cedar Falls police officers chased him over three counties before detaining him near the south of Alison in butter county. Special agent in Charge with the Iowa Division of Criminal investigation, Jeff Jacobson sent him for a medical treatment at the Covenant medical center where he was supposed to go through a psychiatric evaluation. But on Tuesday night Becker was released without the Iowa police department notifying it to the Cedar Police.
Dwight Rogers, whose house was attacked by Becker, says that if he would have been kept behind bars then the shooting would have been avoided.
Mark Becker has not been in good records since 2003. He was in custody before due to cases of violent fights, assaults and drunken driving besides being monetarily penalized and subjected to Self Probation. Though he enrolled for a course in the Hawkeye community College and Wartburg College, he soon left them. The person killed, Ed Thomas was known to be a good coach and nice man as well.
