Dec. 01, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Marion Jones has been given another chance after her stint in prison. The sprinter is currently in basketball training in the hope of playing with the National Basketball Association. She had been put in prison after she had been charged with steroid abuse. She had been detected taking the banned anabolic steroid THG prior to the Games. She was stripped of the medals she had won at the Sydney Olympics. She had also been involved in a drugs fraud case. Jones was the starting point guard in her college basketball team at the University of North Carolina. She also played in the national championship team of the college in 1994.
Jones said that she would like to make the maximum use of this opportunity that she has been granted. The coach of the San Antonio Silver Stars, Don Hughes, said that she had indeed been training with his assistants for quite a few months now, although he could not confirm the reason. However, he did say that she is probably attempting to make a comeback in the WNBA.
It has been almost a year since Jones was arrested and imprisoned. She said that she wants to take this opportunity to make amends and put many things right. She admits that she had not done all things right, but while she chooses to learn from them, she does not want them to come in her way again. She was emotional as she announced to the press that she would not let this one incident get in the way of her life and obliterate all other “positives.”
