Oct 22, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Anticipation is running high for the Central Florida University basketball team as Marcus Jordan, son of the legendary basketball player Michael Jordan is all set to play in it. As a result, the ticket sales for this season has also increased tremendously compared to the last season when around 4300 audiences filled the facility which could house about 10000 people. The possibility of seeing Michael Jordan on the stands might be a contributing factor resulting in the sudden increase of the ticket sales.
The young player will be playing for the basketball team called Knights. Coach Kirk Speraw has emphasized that the player has been selected due to his competence and grasp over the game and not because of his family background. However, it is reported that Marcus elected to join the team as two of his friends were already playing in it.
At the same time, the 18 year old lad, who is a freshman in the Central Florida University, is already making news although he has not played his game as yet. Reportedly, the young player has also declined to wear shoes by the sports brand Adidas, in spite of the fact that Central Florida already has a valid contract with the brand which is scheduled to provide all the apparels, shoes and equipment required by the team. This created quite a controversy as it puts the $1.9 million Adidas contract in jeopardy. Marcus has said that he would be wearing shoes by another sports brand- Nike, which are known as Air Jordan, as Nike has always been associated with the Jordan family. Although not pleased with the decision, Adidas has avoided going into any confrontation with the player.
